This is the most extreme winter sports weekend in the region with fierce competitions in mountaineering and free-riding, kayaking and paragliding. The festival is also a social folk festival for the public - even for those who would rather sit by a fireplace than beeing out in the rugh terrain. The strong festival atmosphere is an important part of what creates the unique student environment in Volda.

During the X2 festival, you can participate or be a contributor to a whole range of extreme sports, everything from surfing in the fjord to mountaineering, interesting lectures from international speakers, or just have fun on the concert floor.

The activities are spread to different places at Sunnmøre, but the main base is in Volda: The festival area is in and around the Sparebank1 hall by the stadium in Volda.
