Lygnstøylvatnet (lake)

Lygnstøylvatnet was created in 1908. A rockslide created a dam, the river Lygna grew into a lake and flowed over a farm and a small forest. When the water is calm, we can clearly see the remains of the house ruins under the water surface. The entire bottom of the lake is covered with bright green grass, old trees and mud. Lygnstøylvatnet has become an attractive place for divers and snorkelers from all over the world. You can reach the lake from the village of Øya on county road 655. You can also come to Lygnstøylsvatnet from Stryn, Hornindal and Stranda.
