Giftsteinen (The marry stone) lies at the northeastern end of the bridge in Hornindal and has an almost circular hole in the middle.

There are two stories associated with this stone.

The first is that the bride's party went to this stone, and the bride had to crawl through the stone under all her supervision. If she came through, everything was fine, if she didn't get through, she was probably pregnant.

The second story is that the summer farm maids from the mountain farm had to get trough the stone when they arrived in May and then when they had finished work in late summer, to see if they had been "loose" during the service period.
