Tyssenaustet - DNT (tourist cabin)

Tyssenaustet is a converted boathouse on the northwest side of Lake Tyssevatnet at Bjørke in the Hjørundfjord. The boathouse is surrounded by dramatic mountain peaks on all sides. The cabin has its own distinctive character. The conversion from boathouse to cabin is creative and well done.

The Tyssenaustet was restored in 2000 and 2001 and is equipped with bed linen and everything you need to make food. The cabin is not insulated, but has electric heating. Two of the beds are slightly wider than the rest and have room for two children. In total, there are six beds in the cabin, four of which can be booked in advance, two are for those who arrive unannounced. Tyssenaustet is open all year-round.

A 14-foot aluminum boat, canoe and life jackets are available in the boathouse. The water can be heavily drained, and one must follow the instructions posted in the boathouse on how to get the boat out. The fishing can be good, and there are both arctic charr and trout in the water.
