Alexander Stub- solo exhibition //Kunsthuset, Ørsta

Alexander Stub was born in Bergen (1978).

He had his first solo exhibition as early as 1994. After graduating from the Bergen School of Art, he spent two years as an intern at a graphic workshop. Since 2004 he has worked as a full-time artist/graphic artist.

Stub has regular solo exhibitions, and has been purchased by and decorated several large companies.

Alexander Stub has become a master of linocut, a technique that fewer and fewer people work with. Linocut is an old technique that is closely related to woodcut.

Stub's personal reflections:

"Nature's light and shapes have always fascinated me. I spend a lot of time in the mountains throughout the year. Spring in particular fascinates me with the melting snow and all the contrasts that emerge. I take my memories and impressions with me to the studio, where I make small sketches that are then transferred to linoleum sheets. The lines are cut away with small V-irons. Each image consists of 3-5 plates, often with several colors on each plate. The colors are rolled on with small rollers on the areas that remain after the cutout. The plates are either printed wet on wet, or I let it dry after each plate. It's always exciting to see the result after the last plate has gone through the press.

My editions are small and usually consist of 25-35 copies. I print all my images myself, which makes them as original as they can be."

On the opening day, Friday, September 13 between 1800-2000, the artist will be on hand and there will be a musical performance by the cultural school.
The exhibition will be open Thursday-Wednesday between September 14 and October 5 at 1200-1600.
